house keys for home ownershipPropertymark has announced a series of virtual roundtables and a comprehensive industry survey to gather member feedback in response to the UK government’s ongoing consultations on Home Buying and Selling Reform and Material Information requirements.

The proposed reforms aim to reduce the number of failed transactions and speed up the home-moving process. Recognising the potential scale of these changes—touted as some of the most significant in a generation – Propertymark is seeking to ensure that the perspectives of estate and letting agents are fully represented in the government’s policy development.

Propertymark is especially keen to gather insights from members across the UK as the reforms cover a broad range of important topics, including qualification requirements for estate and letting agents, digital logbooks, binding contracts, and influence future guidance on Material Information.

To facilitate open dialogue and capture real-world experiences, Propertymark will host a series of virtual roundtables open to all members on:

+ Monday 27 October, 13:00–15:00

+ Tuesday 28 October, 13:00–15:00

+ Wednesday 29 October, 13:00–15:00

+ Thursday 30 October, 13:00–15:00

Alongside the roundtables, Propertymark has launched a detailed survey open to all agents designed to capture views on key aspects of the reforms. The survey will cover:

+ Personal and professional background information

+ UK government objectives for the home buying and selling process

+ Raising professional standards for estate and letting agents

+ Implementation of digital logbooks

+ Binding contracts and consumer information support

+ Streamlining identity verification processes

+ Challenges involved in providing upfront property information

Timothy Douglas, head of policy and campaigns, Propertymark, said: “We welcome the UK government’s initiative to reform the home buying and selling process, which has long been in need of modernisation to better serve both consumers and professionals in the property sector. However, it is essential that any changes are realistic, achievable and deliver meaningful improvements.

“Our virtual roundtables and survey are designed to ensure that the voices of member agents, those on the front lines of the property market, are fully represented in the consultation process. By gathering insights from across the sector, and the UK, we aim to help shape reforms that raise professional standards, introduce practical innovations and streamline processes in a way that benefits everyone involved.

“We encourage all members to participate actively in these discussions so that together we can help create a more efficient, transparent, and consumer-friendly property market.”
