Spanish colo provider Adam Ecotech has broken ground on a new data center in Barcelona.
Announced this week, the new Catalonian facility will offer 8MW across 7,500 sqm (80,729 sq ft) and be built to Tier III standards.
This project is Adam’s fourth data center, in addition to the one it already has in Madrid and two operational in Barcelona, which combined total 6,900 sqm (74,270 sq ft) and 7MW of capacity.
Located in Parc de l’Alba in Cerdanyola del Vallès, the facility will incorporate photovoltaic panels. The first phase, due to comprise four modular halls with a total capacity of 4MW, is due to launch in 2027.
José Mejías, CEO of Adam, said: “With this new phase of growth initiated alongside CVC DIF, we are taking another step toward the future of hosting and connectivity services for businesses, committed to innovation, sustainability, and comprehensive support in all our operations.”
Founded in 1995, Adam opened its first data center in Barcelona in 2001. The firm was acquired by the CVC DIF fund last year.
Launched in 2021, Adam’s Madrid facility in Alcala de Henares offers 2MW across 3,500 sqm (37,675 sq ft).
The two existing two Barcelona sites are located in Cerdanyola del Vallès and central Barcelona; the former offers 4MW across 3,000 sqm (32,290 sq ft) and the latter offers 1.5MW across 600 sqm (6,460 sq ft). The upcoming Barcelona facility in Cerdanyola del Vallès will offer 5MW and 12,000 sqm (129,165 sq ft) in phase one.
