The company also attracted the resources of lead investor 1789 Capital, a firm of which Donald Trump Jr is a partner, and Presto Tech Horizons, a jv that Czech CSG’s signed with Presto Ventures.
Firehawk Aerospace, an US-based propulsion systems company active in advanced energy, secured a Series C round of above 60 million US Dollars that 1789 Capital (a company of which is partner also Donald Trump Jr) led. The company also attracted the resources of Presto Tech Horizons (PTH), Draper Associates, Decisive Point, Stellar Ventures, and other investors (Firehawk Aerospace and CSG statements).
PTH is a joint venture that Czech diversified group CSG signed with Presto Ventures to support innovative defence and resilience technologies.
In April 2025, CSG acquired Italian ammunitions producer Fiocchi Munizioni from the eponymous family and Charme Capital Partners (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
CSG belongs to chairman Michal Strnad, has more than 14000 workers and production plants in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Italy, India, Great Britain, and USA.
Firehawk is the first company in the world to apply 3D printing on a large scale to the production of solid propellants and rocket engines, reducing lead times by 99% compared to traditional methods while increasing safety, flexibility and scalability.
These innovations also have a direct impact on the production of artillery ammunition, enabling rapid, reliable and distributed production capacity. In August 2025, Firehawk Aerospace launched its Firehawk Analog (GFA), a 3D-printed hybrid rocket propulsion system. The flight test proved the system’s directional stability, reaching over 18000 feet of vertical ascent and exceeding the speed of sound. This launch marks the first in a series under a contract with the US Army (press release).
Will Edwards, the ceo of Firehawk Aerospace, said: “The current scenario shows that although drones offer a decisive advantage, munitions such as missiles and rockets remain the core of the defence capability. A supply chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the production of propellants and explosives is today’s main bottleneck. Enabling European industry to rapidly produce these solutions on a large scale is also at the heart of Firehawk’s mission. We are proud to partner with Presto Tech Horizons and CSG to strengthen the energy supply chain and ensure that our allies can support the production of the most critical defence equipment.”
With this investment, CSG establishes itself as Europe’s leading industrial partner in the company’s growth, helping to bring highly innovative technology to Europe that will transform propellant and ammunition production.
The investment in Firehawk is part of CSG’s strategy to strengthen the resilience of the European defence supply chain, ensuring that NATO forces and allies have local and scalable solutions for the production of key systems.
Strnad added: “The current geopolitical context highlights the importance of investing in innovative defence technologies. Firehawk represents a unique opportunity not only for the future of rocket propulsion, but also for munitions production. This investment strengthens the cooperation between American and European industry and confirms CSG’s role as a strategic partner in the security of Europe”.
Matej Luhovy, a partner of Presto Tech Horizons, pointed out: “Since the early 2010s, scientists and engineers have been exploring the use of 3D printing to achieve faster, safer and more flexible production of solid propellants. Firehawk is the first company to fulfil that promise. They combine rapid production with complex granule designs that were previously impossible, improving performance and enabling large-scale distributed production. Their technology not only accelerates propellant production: it radically redefines the entire supply chain for missiles and rockets. That is why the partnership with CSG is so important for European defence resilience.
