Critical cooling specialist, Airedale by Modine, has announced the 2MW TurboChill DCS, the next generation in their range of Turbocor compressor chillers, redesigned from the ground up to meet the specific operational demands of colocation and hyperscale data centers. TurboChill DCS will be manufactured in the UK and the US for global distribution.
TurboChill DCS is the latest in Airedale’s DCS range of data center specific chillers, designed to meet the most ambitious efficiency, performance and sustainability objectives. It is optimized for higher ambient temperatures of up to 55°C (131°F), with low GWP refrigerant R1234ze (GWP 1.37).
Turbocor oil-free centrifugal compressors deliver outstanding efficiency across full and part load, and the modular ‘V’ frame coil arrangement has been further optimized with the application of Airedale’s Enhanced Free Cooling technology, using larger diameter fans for reduced energy consumption.
An improved water system delivers increased opportunity for free cooling, with the onboard variable speed pump enabling variable primary flow rate control, reducing energy consumption.
The enclosed glycol loop separates the glycol from the indoor systems, offering protection from freezing weather conditions whilst ensuring the continued performance of indoor units.
Featuring an ultra-low-lift operation, for when waterside free cooling isn’t the right option, the compressors ensure low power consumption in decreasing ambient temperatures. It also delivers lower sound levels for environmental comfort.
Patrick Cotton, product management director for Airedale by Modine said, “TurboChill DCS is the latest innovation resulting from 20 years of Turbocor compressor experience, combined with 50 plus years data center expertise, to deliver a sustainable, high capacity chiller for colocation and hyperscale data centers.
“The market has seen an increased demand for emerging digital technologies, and TurboChill DCS has been developed for easy integration into air or hybrid cooling systems.”
As with all Airedale by Modine chillers, TurboChill DCS comes with the latest helix intelligent controls platform inbuilt, and can be integrated into BMS and intelligent optimization cooling systems.
