Milan-listed B-Corp AATech acquired Gruppo Business Innovation Lab, the owner of fintech platform Opyn, and received the support of Envent Italia, DWF, Audirevi, and Studio Fondi (see here a previous post by BeBeez). AA Tech will invest 16.6 million euros in cash, 1.7 million through a shares swap and 0.143 million through warrants of the buyer. The target’s enterprise value amounts to 20 million. Antonio Lafiosca, Angelo Daniele Blancato, Ivan Pellegrini, and Alessandro Andreozzi (currently ceo of AATech) are the founders of Opyn whose shareholders are Gruppo Azimut, Banca Valsabbina, P101, Gruppo Italmondo, and others. Proxima Fusion, an European nuclear energy startup, extended by a further 15 million euros the 130 million Series that recently closed (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The company attracted the resources of CDP Venture Capital, European Innovation Council Fund – EICF and Brevan Howard Macro Venture. In 2023, Francesco Sciortino (ceo), Lucio Milanese (coo), Andrea Merlo, Martin Kubie, Jorrit Lion, and Jonathan Schilling founded Proxima which will invest the raised proceeds in its organic growth. Tot, an Italian fintech startup that ceo Doris Messina and coo Bruno Reggiani head, attracted pre-Series A resources of 7 million euros (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The company received the money of CDP Venture Capital (lead investor), Azimut, The Techshop, X-Equity Venture Club, Banca Sella, and ClubDeal Digital’s high net worth individuals associates. Further investors in the deal are Paolo Galvani, Gianluca Cocco and Chapeau Media, a club deal of which are part Matteo Pichi, Pietro Marchetti, Giuseppe Nicola Ramonda, Francesco Fiorese, and Alessandro Rimassa. Francesco Pezcoller Gruppo NexumStp, Studio di Dottori Commercialisti Associati Lexis, and Bird & Bird acted as deal advisors. Studio Notarile Ricci & Radaelli and Milano Notai are the public notaries that sealed the transaction. Finnish startup Agate Sensors attracted 4 million euros in equity from Italian venture capital LIFTT (lead investor) and Voima Ventures and a 1.6 million grant from Business Finland (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Tommi Leino (ceo), Andreas Liapis, Mikael Westerlund, and Faisal Ahmed founded Agate in 2024 through a spin-off of Aalto University. Agate Sensors developed technology that enables devices to analyse the chemical composition of materials in real time.
Italian space tech startup Astradyne attracted seed resources of 2 million euros from Primo Space, Galaxia, CDP Venture Capital, Obloo Ventures, Puglia, and Eureka! Venture (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Alessandro Buscicchio, Vittorio Netti and Davide Vittori (ceo) founded Astradyne in 2021. The company received the incubation support from Turin Polytechnic I3P’s ESA BIC Turin, a programme of which are also part European Space Agency (ESA), Italian Space Agency (ASI), and Fondazione LINKS. Vittori said that the company will invest the raised proceeds in its proprietary technology and in reaching Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 9 for Solar-Z. Matteo Cascinari is a General Partner of Primo Space. Claudia Pingue heads CDP Venture’s Tech Transfer Fund. Massimo Gentili is a Partner of Eureka!. Bottle-Up, an Italian foodtech startup, said it raised 1.5 million euros from an interantiona family office (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The company will invest such proceeds in four key areas: enhancement of proprietary software for digitising the supply chain, expansion of the team, acquisition of state-of-the-art customisation machinery, and international expansion. Siblings Francesco Farnetani (ceo) and Federico Farnetani founded Bottle-Up in 2015 and attracted seed resources of 0.2 million on the ground of a pre-money value of 5 million.
