Acembee, a Copenhagen-based ConTech startup using AI to digitise energy monitoring and compliance in the construction sector, has secured €1.2 million in fresh funding.

The round was led by Stockholm-based early-stage investor node.vc, with participation from Kiilto Ventures, the investment arm of Finnish chemicals firm Kiilto, and a group of angel investors.

“This is a huge moment for us. We’ve poured our hard work into getting here, and this investment means we can help even more construction companies unlock the benefits of AI and reduce emissions,” says Oline Ryberg Stærke, CEO and Co-founder of Acembee. “We’re not just building a product. We’re helping an entire industry move forward.”

Founded in 2022 to modernise one of the world’s most environmentally damaging and least digitised industries, Acembee has developed a platform that helps contractors transition away from spreadsheets and disconnected systems. The AI-powered tool enables real-time data collection, automated reporting, and insights into energy usage, allowing construction managers to meet legal climate requirements with significantly less administrative work.

Acembee’s technology arrives at a time of regulatory change in Denmark, where new national climate rules have placed a cap on CO₂ emissions during construction – set at 1.5 kg CO₂e/m²/year.

The platform automates compliance with these new standards by collecting energy data from smart meters, utility bills, and on-site sensors. It then analyses the data to generate lifecycle assessment (LCA) reports, including A4 and A5 formats, and highlights opportunities to reduce energy waste.

On average, contractors using the platform have reportedly seen energy reductions of around 40%, all while maintaining key operational demands such as heated worker cabins or tool containers.

With its single-interface design, the platform also replaces the process of managing data across multiple spreadsheets and tools. Construction teams are given one connected system that streamlines oversight and cuts down on time-consuming documentation.

“We need solutions that can simplify the ever-increasing documentation requirements in the construction industry. Acembee’s system doesexactly that, creating significant value for us as contractors. It helps us save time and work more efficiently with the many documents that come with a construction project,” says Christian Svenninggaard Kjeldsen, Head of Sustainability at KT Erhvervsbyg A/S.

Acembee has already onboarded several major contractors and is preparing to expand across Europe with this funding boost.

The investors bring sector-specific experience to the table. Node VC is known for backing high-potential tech teams reshaping legacy industries. Kiilto Ventures, on the other hand, focuses on supporting climate-positive innovations in the built environment.

“We love investing in teams that solve complex problems in industries that have been slow to change. What sets Acembee apart is how quickly they’ve moved from idea to real-world traction. That kind of momentum is rare in this space,” says Henrik Tellving, Partner at node.vc.

With European regulations tightening and construction firms under pressure to deliver greener projects, Acembee’s timing seems spot on. The startup plans to use the capital to further develop its AI capabilities, scale customer onboarding, and enter new markets across Europe.
