Nordic data center firm atNorth has sold Gompute, its high-performance compute-as-a-Service (HPCaaS) platform, to IT services business Advania.

The companies announced the deal this week. Due to close in Q3 2025, terms were not shared.

Founded in 2002, Gompute offers HPC-as-a-cloud services with bare-metal compute nodes for computer-aided engineering (CAE) workloads, as well as on-premise and hybrid cloud solutions. AtNorth acquired the company in 2023, taking over a data center in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The acquisition includes Gompute’s teams in Sweden and Spain, who will continue their work as part of Advania Sweden.

“This arrangement will strengthen the ongoing partnership between the two businesses, with Gompute being strategically aligned with Advania’s focus on building ‘AI-ready’ sovereignty clouds across their locations, while atNorth will continue to host the platform within its state-of-the-art data center sites,” atNorth said.

Nordic operator atNorth operates seven data centers across Sweden, Iceland, and Finland, with more in development in Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. Swiss investment manager Partners Group acquired the company in December 2021.

AtNorth was spun out of Advania in 2017, and the pair have maintained a close relationship ever since. Advania is present at atNorth’s ICE01 and ICE03 sites in the Icelandic capital Reykjavík, and also leases space at the company’s data centers in Sweden and Finland.

Advania was founded as an office equipment repair workshop in Iceland back in 1939. Today, it has 5,000 employees across seven markets and is a portfolio company managed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives.

AtNorth was formed as Advania Data Centers in 2012 from three components: Skyrr, a public sector IT specialist in Iceland; Kerfi, a Swedish outfit with roots in a Nokia spinoff called Datapoint, and Hands from Norway. The company de-merged from the Advania Group in 2017 and rebranded to atNorth in 2020.
