Sarah Bush, Cheffins’ head of residential, is preparing to jump out of an aeroplane at 10,000 ft as part of the agency’s target of raising some £200,000 for a children’s charity.
The firm has pledged to give at least £100,000 for the new Children’s Hospital in Cambridge through Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) which will provide a dedicated playroom for children in treatment, which accords with Cheffins’ goal to support mental health services for future generations.
Sarah Bush said: “I wanted to do something totally outside of my comfort zone and fairly high profile in a bid to raise as much money as possible to help smash our fundraising goal.”
Over £112,000 has been raised in the first half of the year and the firm determined to achieve its ultimate target of £200,000. The monies raised so far have been through a variety of fundraising efforts undertaken by the firm’s staff, including the Cambridge Half Marathon, the Norfolk Coastal Trek, the Three Peaks challenge, a rounders tournament hosted by the Haverhill office and a bake sale organised by the Newmarket office.
Future fundraising efforts include the Cheffins team taking part in the Cambridge Dragon Boat Race, the sale of the Cheffins charity tractor, the Cheffins office bike ride and a timed online charity auction which will include a host of “money-can’t-buy” prizes.
Bush’s daredevil challenge takes place on Saturday 23rd August at North London Skydiving Centre in Wimblington, accompanied by colleagues Jack French and Henry Sidebottom. Cheffins will be match-funding all the monies raised.
She added: “I’m absolutely determined to get us over the half-way point of £100,000. There’s no doubt that I will be a bag of nerves on the day but I’m determined to emulate the courage and resilience that children in treatment show every single day.”
