Wortmann AG has expanded its Terra Cloud data center in Hüllhorst, Germany.
The company has added around 6MW of power and cooling capacity, enabling the addition of 450 racks and increasing the scalability of Wortmann’s Terra Cloud offering.
The total capacity of the data center was not shared, though in 2022 it was described as a 5MW facility.
The expansion project, excluding the purchase of new hardware, saw the investment of €30m ($35m) in the data center. The facility now covers 8,000 sqm (86,111 sq ft) of land and 4,000 sqm (43,055 sq ft) of data center space.
Wortmann’s Terra Cloud offers a variety of services, including hosting, housing, IaaS, and SaaS.
The company said of the expansion project: “This underscores Wortmann AG’s long-term commitment to Germany as a location and to independence in the cloud market.”
According to the Wortmann AG website, Terra Cloud operates solely out of the Hüllhorst, Germany, data center, though LinkedIn suggests there is a second data center site in Düsseldorf. The company claims to work with more than 6,000 “partners” and 100,000 business end customers, operating as a 100 percent independent German company.
Wortmann AG was founded as a family business in 1986 by Siegbert Wortmann. Terra Cloud’s LinkedIn page says it was founded in 2013
