Dorian Therapeutics, a Palo Alto startup that Stanford Medical School alumnae Maddalena Adorno and Benedetta Di Robilant founded in 2018 for developing therapies for age-related diseases, sold to Altos Labs, an US scaleup baesed in Redwood City that Rick Klauser, Hans Bishop, Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, and Anabey Camarena created in 2017 for carrying on researches on cellular rejuvenation programming (Linkedin).
In 2018, Dorian Therapeutics attracted 0.15 million from Y Combinator and further resources from Stanford-StartX. Blumberg Capital, The Longevity Fund and Pacific8 later poured resources in the business.
In 2022, Altos Labs secured 3 billion from Foresite Capital, ARCH Venture Partners, Altitude Life Science Ventures, Yuri Milner (the founder of Mail.Ru and of DST Global), and Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos.
Altos Labs also hired nobel laureates Frances Arnold, Jennifer Doudna, Shinya Yamanaka, and David Baltimore.
