General Catalyst led the investors

Barcelona-based unicorn Factorial, a platform for software corporate management, attracted 120 million US Dollars from its main shareholder General Catalyst and other investors. The scaleup raised a total of 200 million since Bernat Farrero, Jordi Romero and Pau Ramon founded it in 2016 (press release).

In April 2024,  General Catalyst led another 80 million round (press release). Factorial became a unicorn in 2022 after having secured a Series C round of 123 million euros on the ground of an enterprise value of one billion. Atomico led the investors whose list included Singapore’s GIC, Tiger Global, CRV, K-Fund, and Creandum (press release). Tiger Global led the 2021 80 million US Dollars Series B round in which Creandum, Point Nine, K Fund, Columbia Lake Partners, and Venture Capital CRV also poured their resources (press release). Factorial previously secured a further four rounds.

Factorial, a former publisher of HR software, changed its business model as a platform for project administration, training and expense management and served more than 13000 clients in Europe. The list of 1200 Italian users of Factorial products include Caffeina, Banca Aidexa, Unobravo and Casavo. The HR software unit has 200 Italian workers and aims to expand in Italy where it aims to hire 16 resources and generate more than 100 million US Dollars revenues in 2025.

“Factorial’s efficient and predictable growth allows us to pursue ambitious expansion without diluting our shareholders, making us one of the few companies that are simultaneously hyper-growing and financially sustainable.”, Jordi Romero, ceo and co-founder of Factorial, said.

Pranav Singhvi, a managing director of General Catalyst, commented: “From our perspective, it is rare to see a company grow as quickly and efficiently as Factorial did in 2024. Their ability to grow sustainably while remaining at the forefront of innovation made this decision very easy for us. We are doubling our investment and are excited to support Factorial’s next phase of growth.”
