Core Capital Investments has launched an AI cloud platform dubbed Cartagon.ai.
Announced by the technology investment firm on March 13, Cartagon.ai will have an initial funding of more than €30 million ($32.7m).
The AI platform will be part of Cartagon, a cloud and IT service provider in Spain and Portugal and “managed vehicle” of Core Capital Partners.
The Europe-based platform will provide customers with access to Nvidia GPUs, with the company stating it will follow a similar model to that of CoreWeave.
Cartagon.ai will reportedly operate with zero water consumption, and in compliance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 global environmental agenda.
Details about which Nvidia GPUs the company will offer, or which data centers the platform will be hosted in, have not been provided.
“Cartagon.ai represents a milestone in the AI infrastructure in Europe. Our goal is to provide companies with a scalable, efficient, and sustainable solution for deploying AI models without the need for large investments in hardware,” said Paco González, CEO of Core Capital Investments.
Alberto Valencia, Cartagon’s CTO and project leader for cartagon.ai at Core Capital Investments, added: “Demand for AI infrastructure in Europe is growing at an unprecedented rate, and with cartagon.ai, we want to ensure that businesses can access the computing power they need without the investment barriers and technical complexity that this entails. Our turnkey approach allows companies to focus on innovation, while we take care of providing reliable, high-performance, secure, and sustainable infrastructure.”
Cartagon launched in 2000 and offers cloud, security, and data center services to its customers. The company does not share details of its data centers online, but describes it as having a “network of data centers in Spain” as well as “agreements with the main public clouds.”
Core Capital invested in Cartagon in 2020.
DCD has contacted the company for more information about its data center footprint.
Core Capital Investments focuses on data centers, cloud services, and “disruptive technologies.”
The company has previously invested in Quetta Data Centers in collaboration with Azora. The firm was founded in 2020 by Paco González.
