Tallinn-based startup Askel.ai has closed a €380,000 pre-seed funding round led by Superangel, joined by investors such as ProcessOut co-founder Manuel Huez, Matrix partner Patrick Malatack, Veriff co-founder Janer Gorohhov, and Ott Kaukver former CTO of Checkout.com and Twilio, and tech executive of Skype. The no-code platform allows SaaS companies to embed workflow automation into their tools. The platform simplifies automation by enabling end-users to describe tasks in plain language, reducing the need for technical expertise. With this funding, Askel.ai plans to enhance the platform and expand its user base. Early feedback from pilot users indicates significant time savings on repetitive tasks, suggesting potential efficiency gains for businesses adopting this technology.
Askel.ai was founded by Joosep Kõljalg, Kristofer Kurvits and Tim Jaanson. The company offers a platform that enables SaaS companies to embed intuitive automation directly into their products in a simple way. The platform allows SaaS product customers to create, manage, and run automations within the online tools they’re already familiar with, enhancing user experience without overburdening engineering teams. Non-technical end-users can automate repetitive tasks with Askel.ai’s solution by describing desired outcomes in natural and simple language.
Manuel Huez commented: “I was super excited when I was offered a spot in Askel’s angel round. With a team experienced in all stages of scaling a company and with AI agents maturing into a technology that can be used to create meaningful products and solve specific problems, Askel has what it takes to streamline any company operation’s busywork.“
According to the Boston Consulting Group, 26% of companies in Asia, Europe and North America have developed advanced or cutting-edge AI capabilities across functions. As AI leaders these companies consistently generate significant value or are beginning to realize substantial gains. Over the past 3 years, AI leaders have achieved 1.5 times higher revenue growth, 1.6 times greater shareholder returns, and 1.4 times higher returns on invested capital. They also excel in non-financial areas like patents filed and employee satisfaction.
“At Twilio, we saw how inefficiencies in back-office operations hindered the ability to scale growth,” commented Joosep Kõljalg, former Twilio engineering director and founder of Askel.ai. “Askel.ai solves this by making automation easy and cost-effective for everyone. Rather than adding another tool into the mix, we embed automation directly where the work is being done.”
The platform’s pilot customers report significant benefits, reducing the time spent on task completion up to 10 times. Askel.ai helps companies reduce manual workloads, increase scalability, and minimize errors to achieve better business results, from improved customer satisfaction to higher revenue.
“We see a future where anyone, no matter their tech savviness, can use simple, everyday language to create AI agents that handle their repetitive tasks—doing them faster, more accurately, and around the clock,” Kõljalg added.
