Former Andreessen Horowitz partner Sriram Krishnan has announced he’s been appointed to a new role in Donald Trump’s government.
Krishnan will be “working closely” with fellow VC and former PayPal executive David Sacks in the role of senior policy advisor for AI at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, according to Trump’s post on his social media site Truth Social. (Sacks was appointed as crypto and AI czar.) Krishnan wrote on X that he was “honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI”.
Trump has been heavily tapping the VC and tech world for key roles in his new administration, notably appointing Elon Musk to a new Department of Government Efficiency commission, or DOGE.
Krishnan was made a general partner at US VC giant Andreessen Horowitz in 2021, where he focused heavily on crypto and Web3 startups, and in 2023 moved to the UK to help set up the firm’s first office abroad. Earlier this year, however, it was announced that a16z crypto’s chief operating officer Anthony Albanese was relocating to the UK to head up UK policy efforts, with Krishnan transitioning to work on the firm’s international strategy.
Before moving into VC, Krishnan worked in product at Twitter (now X), social media app Snap, Facebook and Microsoft.
