Norwegian Hydrogen Mem-Tech and Arda Energy have announced a strategic partnership focused on improving hydrogen separation efficiency. Hydrogen Mem-Tech will supply its advanced hydrogen separators for integration into Arda Energy’s gas-to-hydrogen projects. This collaboration aims to enhance hydrogen production from biogas and natural gas by increasing efficiency and reducing energy consumption. The partnership leverages Arda Energy’s extensive experience in project development and finance, which will provide a broader platform for demonstrating the capabilities of Hydrogen Mem-Tech’s technology on a larger scale.
Hydrogen Mem-Tech, established in 2017 in Trondheim, Norway, specializes in hydrogen technology with a focus on palladium membrane systems. The company has attracted investment from AP Ventures, Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures, Shell Ventures, Yara Growth Ventures, and SINTEF Venture V. In 2023, Hydrogen Mem-Tech completed a commercial production facility to support its operations. The company designs and produces palladium membrane technology that enables efficient hydrogen extraction from natural and biogases. This technology aims to contribute to the development of clean hydrogen solutions and supports the broader goal of advancing green energy transitions.
“Collaborating with Arda Energy opens up significant opportunities for our technology,” says Hydrogen Mem-Tech’s Jørgen Svare, the company’s Chief Sales Officer. “From Hydrogen Mem-Tech’s perspective, Arda Energy’s extensive international project development and project finance capabilities provide the perfect platform to demonstrate the capabilities of our hydrogen separators on a large scale.”
Arda Energy was founded by professionals transitioning from the oil and gas sector with a focus on developing sustainable energy solutions. The company leverages extensive technical expertise, project execution skills, and commercial knowledge to create practical solutions for the energy transition. Alongside co-owner Valinor, Arda Energy is involved in exploring and expanding international projects. The company’s mission centers on deploying its technology effectively and optimizing resources. One of their key technologies, Agri-e, enables the extraction of hydrogen, power, heat, and CO2 from biogas, with applications in greenhouses, reflecting their commitment to advancing clean energy solutions.
“By incorporating Hydrogen Mem-Tech’s hydrogen separators, we are positioned to improve our project efficiency and speed up the global transition to sustainable energy,” says Egil Vigdel, co-founder and CEO of Arda Energy.
Partnerships are crucial for making gains in the green transition. Now, Hydrogen Mem-Tech and Arda Energy are partnering on industrial gas-to-hydrogen projects.
