Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised the lenders on the financing of a 940 MWp portfolio of solar farms in Western Macedonia in northern Greece.
The project financings enable the construction and operation of nine Greek solar farms held by Meton Energy, a joint venture between leading energy groups RWE Renewables Europe & Australia and PPC Renewables.
The projects have secured financing from commercial loans and European Union – NextGenerationEU funds via the Recovery and Resilience Facility plan ‘Greece 2.0’. The new 450 MW Orycheio Dei Amynteo solar farm is the final project in the Amyntaio portfolio. Its commissioning is expected by the end of 2025 and, for its operational phase, Power Purchase Agreements have been signed by RWE Supply & Trading and PPC Renewables.
The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Florian Degenhardt (Hamburg) and included partners Ingrid York (London) and Iacopo Canino (Milan), local partners Roland Arlt and Matthias Grigoleit (both Hamburg), counsel Beate Treibmann (Hamburg) and associates Robert Bente, (Hamburg), Phillan Amin, Sebastian Modos (both London) and Cherry Zhou (Beijing).
