Amsterdam-based Women in AI, a nonprofit global do-tank on a mission to increase female representation and participation in AI, announced on Tuesday the winners of the 2024 Women in AI Netherlands Awards.
These awards celebrate the achievements of women who are driving innovation, advocating for responsible AI practices, and making a tangible impact on society through their work.
The winners are:
Anastasia Kuskova, the Founder and CEO of Sirius, has been recognised as the AI Impact Maker.
Her startup is pioneering the use of AI to facilitate sustainable transformation in crucial sectors such as metals, mining, and mobility. With a mission to empower companies in these sectors, Anastasia leads Sirius, a Techstars-backed startup that pioneers a comprehensive tech stack tailored for the sustainability officers of the future. Her leadership extended to co-chairing the Group ESG Committee at Eurasian Resources Group, a $10B mining company, where she spearheaded the ESG transformation across diverse regions and operations.
Noelle Cicilia, Co-founder of Brush AI, has been awarded the title of Responsible AI Leader.
Noelle’s research focuses on developing algorithmic fairness methods and implementing them effectively in real-world applications. Apart from her role at Brush AI, Noelle serves at Sigma Squared Society, a non-profit organisation and global community that gathers ambitious young founders recognised for their impact-driven initiatives and ability to revolutionise industries.
Rina Joosten-Rabou, CEO of Pera, has been named the AI Entrepreneur of the Year.
Rina’s startup uses AI to streamline the hiring process and eliminate bias in decision-making. She was the first to use natural language processing to identify potential in people based on a digital interview. Rina’s team uses deep learning techniques to infer personality traits and competencies from natural language based on a candidate’s answers to three open-ended questions.
Enya Séguin, Unit Manager at Delft Imaging, has been recognised as the AI Young Professional.
Enya’s work focuses on making pregnancy scans accessible to women in developing countries, highlighting the potential of AI in improving maternal health outcomes worldwide. Enya is passionate about co-creation models with local stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and scalability of innovations.
Fantine Huot, a Research Engineer at Google DeepMind, has been honoured as the AI Researcher of the Year.
Fantine’s research in computer vision aims to detect natural disasters such as wildfires and earthquakes early, highlighting the role of AI in disaster management and mitigation efforts.
Cynthia Liem, Associate Professor at Delft University of Technology, has been awarded the title of AI Diversity Leader.
She was the first technical commentator on the childcare benefit scandal in NL and raised awareness about algorithmic bias and amplification. As a computer scientist, she is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Lucent Global Science and Google Anita Borg Europe Memorial scholarships and the Google European Doctoral Fellowship in Multimedia.

Women in AI (WAI) is the first global community for women in Artificial Intelligence with over 8,000 members in +140 countries.
The community’s mission is to close the gender gap in AI by empowering women and minorities to become AI & Data experts, innovators and leaders.
Women in AI does it by organising educational events and programs, conducting research, working with corporate and startup ecosystems to build an unbiased and fair future.
