Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised TotalEnergies on its acquisition of Kyon Energy (Kyon), one of the leading developers of large scale battery storage systems in Germany.
The deal aligns with TotalEnergies’ corporate strategy and accelerates its position as an integrated power player in Germany in the production, trading, aggregation and marketing of low-carbon electricity. The completion of the transaction is subject to merger clearance in Germany.
Kyon Energy develops large grid-connected battery storage systems. Its portfolio spans the project planning value chain, from securing sites to the commissioning and handover of storage facilities. Kyon has developed 770 MW of projects of which 120 MW are in operation, 350 MW are under construction and 300 MW are ready to build. It is currently developing Europe’s largest battery storage system in Germany’s Lower Saxony region and has a large 2 GW pipeline of projects at an advanced stage. TotalEnergies will develop, build, and operate those projects as part of its integrated power strategy.
