Lapso Studios, a sportstech that combines cycling, coaching and dance to offer a healthy all-round training experience, has closed its first round of funding for €1.5 million. The operation, which has been led by Thomas Meyer, founder of Desigual through his family office “La Vida es Chula”, has also counted with the participation of another minority investor.
The company, founded in 2021 by Eugenia Llopart together with 4 partners, has been a success since the opening of its first and only centre located on Diagonal, next to Plaça Francesc Macià. The good performance of the company can be seen in the evolution of its income, which in 2023 is expected to increase by more than 47% compared to the previous year, going from 542,000 euros to probably more than 800,000 euros. In addition, sportech also plans to end its second year with a positive ebitda.
Eugenia Llopart, co-founder and CEO of Lapso Studios, said: “We are enormously grateful to Thomas and the other investors for having placed their trust in our project. For us, the fact that an entrepreneur of Thomas’ stature and trajectory has placed his trust in Lapso is not only a validation of our business model, but also of our management. This operation marks the start of a new phase for the company in which we will continue to grow and evolve”.
Lapso Studios will use the amount of the transaction to boost its growth. In this regard, the startup has an ambitious expansion plan with which it plans to open new studios both in Barcelona and in other cities in Spain.
Lapso Studios has managed to stand out and attract the attention of the fitness industry thanks to its innovative proposal. With a B2C business model, based on pay-per-use, in which the consumer pays for using a product or service instead of buying it, the company has connected with a cosmopolitan and demanding user who is concerned about their overall well-being without giving up the enjoyment of life. In addition, Lapso Studios also puts its space at the service of those companies that want to promote fun and well-being among their employees, giving rise to corporate sessions.
Its boutique studio specialises in a form of sport that combines high-intensity physical activity on the bike with dance, strength, resistance, upper body exercises with dumbbells and coaching. The workout, which lasts 45 minutes, is made up of twelve songs, climaxing with the penultimate song.
“We are obsessed with the idea of offering our users the latest trends in the world of fitness and to this end we do not rule out launching new modalities,” added Llopart.
