Shakers, a Madrid-based startup that removes the friction for companies of building external teams, raised €6 million in a seed round led by Adevinta Ventures (whose parent company, Adevinta, owns InfoJobs, Spain’s leading employment platform trusted by 70,000 companies to find the best talent), Brighteye Ventures, (which recently raised a €100 million fund to back European startups that help people learn and develop professionally), Athos Capital (one of Spain’s most active seed and Series A funds) and Wayra (Telefónica’s leading open innovation program).
The objective of this capital inflow is to increase Shakers’ capacity to serve more companies, reduce its waiting list, and begin to focus on its international expansion.
“Shakers was born with a vision to reinvent work. We envision a world where companies and digital workers can connect in a much faster and more efficient way to develop high-impact projects. This round and the new partners bring us one step closer to that goal,” said Héctor Mata, co-founder and CEO of Shakers.
The Madrid startup is transforming the way companies relate to independent workers and yielding better value for both workers and companies. Through hybrid teams in which in-house workers and freelancers collaborate in an agile way, Shakers is enabling companies to adopt the most cross-cutting technologies, anticipate technological challenges, and drive innovation and competitiveness. Their operating system simplifies collaboration between companies and teams of freelancers, allowing them to work together quickly and efficiently.
Founded in 2021, Shakers has attracted 3,000 of the best digital experts in Spain and has accompanied more than 450 companies of the likes of Inditex, Uber and Telefónica, among others. Development of mobile apps, cloud migrations, the design of functionalities based on generative AI, data analysis or cybersecurity plans are the types of projects that companies publish on its platform.
From a business perspective, Shakers’ approach has been to create a platform that simplifies the adoption of freelancers (and the management of hybrid teams) by companies, streamlining recruitment, payment and compliance processes. In a matter of minutes, HR teams issue the challenge, get real-time availability of the most suitable profiles for each position, assemble their team and let everything else flow.
From the freelancers’ perspective, Shakers has focused on providing them with a tool to manage all their tasks in one place, allowing them to request early payment of their invoices or connect with complementary profiles and invite them to join their squads.
In between, Shakers has developed its own AI engine to carry out an intelligent matching between these freelance teams and companies. To do so, it takes into account professional as well as personal aspects to make the best match. According to their vision, Shakers will be the platform of the future for any digital worker who wants to have all their professional life and needs in one place.
