Magnet Forensics Inc., a Canada-based developer of digital investigation solutions, announced that it has acquired Griffeye, a global leader in digital media forensics specialising in child sexual abuse investigations.
David Miles, president of Magnet Forensics says that the acquisition will help customers keep up with the changing multimedia landscape while maintaining solid forensic practices.
“Having the most advanced tools at your disposal—from the first extraction to analysis to management, and eventually in court—is critical,” says Miles.
“Aligning Griffeye’s solutions with ours will ensure our customers keep up with the expanding multimedia landscape in a forensically sound and efficient manner. Together, Magnet Forensics and Griffeye are committed to helping our customers in our shared mission to protect the innocent,” adds Miles.
In 2022, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received over 32 million reports through its tipline, a nationwide reporting system for suspected cases of child sexual exploitation in the United States.
The acquisition of Griffeye by Magnet Forensics is expected to help address this crime. They will provide accessible and innovative technology designed to meet modern investigative demands.
“In a time when forensic backlogs continue to grow, it’s critical for our customers to have tools that support automated workflows,” says Adam Belsher, CEO of Magnet Forensics.
“When investigating child exploitation cases, nothing should stand in the way of serving justice, and having Griffeye become a part of Magnet Forensics will only strengthen our ability to help in that pursuit,” adds Belsher.
Johann Hofmann, CEO of Griffeye, expressed confidence in the shared values between the two companies.
“Magnet Forensics has shown dedication to innovate while closely collaborating with customers, something we also take pride in at Griffeye. This, coupled with our shared goal of empowering investigators worldwide to efficiently process and solve more cases, creates a perfect match,” he says.
“I am confident that together, we can generate an even greater positive impact.”

About Griffeye
Founded in 2015, Sweden-based Griffeye offers innovative solutions tailored to enhance digital investigative procedures. Its primary product, the Griffeye Analyze platform, has been adopted by over 1,000 law enforcement agencies globally.
Griffeye Analyze aids in the processing, categorisation, and examination of extensive collections of images and videos, which is important for cases involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Earlier in June, Griffeye joined forces with NCMEC. The outcome of this collaboration will manifest as a shared platform, empowering NCMEC to provide essential insights to US investigators working on cases of child sexual abuse.
The partnership’s objectives centre around two key areas – enhancing NCMEC’s CyberTipline file assessment process and seamlessly integrating the Griffeye Analyze platform with NCMEC’s Child Victim Identification Program (CVIP).
This collaborative platform uses Griffeye Analyze to help investigators quickly compare file data with NCMEC’s databases in real-time. It also helps quickly match and share information about child sexual abuse files to identify victims.
