The Netherlands-based Koolen Industries Products Group, a group of companies that make the energy transition tangible, announced on Thursday the launch of its latest company, Vigor, a partner for large-scale charging solutions in the public space.
Vigor aims to support municipalities, government agencies, and companies in accelerating the energy transition and creating a sustainable and future-proof living and working environment.
The launch of Vigor comes after pooling the experience and knowledge of several companies within the group. This has shown that there is a need for one point of contact per market participant to overcome the challenges of the energy transition.
“Combining the knowledge and experience gained over the past 30 years from the various companies within Koolen Industries Products Group regarding the charging ecosystem was a logical step. With the bundled in-house knowledge in Vigor, together with key partners such as We Drive Solar, we want to make a difference in the transition to sustainable mobility,” says Gerben Hilboldt, founder and CEO of Koolen Industries Products Group and Vigor.
To combat grid overload
One of the challenges Vigor aims to tackle is the increasingly common overload of the electricity grid, which is turning redder and redder on the grid congestion map of Netbeheer Nederland.
Developing a smart charging station is among the solutions to this problem.
In collaboration with We Drive Solar, experts in Vehicle-to-Grid and bi-directional charging, and Dutch manufacturing company NieuweWeme, which has been producing sustainable solutions for 30 years, Vigor developed a smart charging post in a short time.
The charger was launched in Utrecht, making Utrecht the first bi-directional region in the world.
With Vigor, Koolen Industries Products Group says it aims to make reliable charging infrastructure accessible to the public sector.
The new company aims to offer high-performance charging stations designed to create a reliable urban charging network. They are made specifically for public spaces, from urban areas to shopping malls and business parks.
Vigor’s charging stations are manufactured sustainably and ethically in the Netherlands, with a focus on simplicity, robustness, and functionality.
They offer a range of innovative features, including a smart Charging Pole Management System and advanced bi-directional charging technology.
We Drive Solar says large-scale deployment could completely solve grid congestion problems in the Netherlands.
