Italy’s private equity management company Consilium sgr is about to launch its fourth private equity fund, with a funding target of 200 million euros, well over the 145 million euros of the previous Consilium Private Equity Fund III fund raised in 2014. The investment objective remains companies Italians with enterprise value between 50 and 80 million euros, MF-Milano Finanza reported. The new fund should be launched in the second half of this year.
Consilium Private Equity Fund III has already announced three deals this year. In fact, last January the fund bought the majority of the River Group, specialized in the production of very high quality sneakers for the main international luxury brands (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Last April the fund took over 80% of Dino Corsini, a company that makes baked goods, in particular snacks (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Finally, a few weeks ago the fund bought back Gelit srl, this time in a joint venture with Progressio sgr and MMM srl of the entrepreneur Massimo Menna, already a minority shareholder of pasta Garofalo (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Last February, the previous fund, the Consilium Private Equity Fund (which in 2006 had raised 151 million), instead sold to Ardian the Italian leader in the production of systems and accessories for drafting beer, soft drinks and water, Celli (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
Consilium Private Equity sgr was established in 2006 as a spin-off of the private equity business of Kairos sgr, on the initiative of Stefano Iamoni and Antonio Glorioso. The two founders had indeed taken over the management of the Kairos Partners Private Equity Fund, which was then completely liquidated in 2011.
