Swedish telco Telia Company is set to acquire Nordic Communications Group AB’s mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Telness.
As part of the deal, Telness will sign a long-term agreement with Telness Tech for continued use of the company’s Seamless OS technology platform.
Founded in 2016, Telness has until now operated as an MVNO on Telia’s mobile network in Sweden.
MVNOs don’t own their own telecoms infrastructure, but instead offer services via an established network carrier.
Once the acquisition is completed, Telness will operate under its own brand as part of Telia’s B2B-business. At closing, Telia will also deploy and integrate Seamless OS into its network.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, though the deal will be subject to regulatory approval.
“Telness has made an impressive journey and has become a popular choice among small business owners and entrepreneurs, especially startups,” said Fredrik Stenberg, head of B2B at Telia Sweden.
“This is the result of a strong digital-first operating model, powered by Telness Tech’s technology platform Seamless OS, in combination with our national mobile networks. We are looking forward to helping accelerate Telness growth and strengthen our position in this exciting part of the Swedish B2B-market.”
Telia has around four million mobile subscribers across Sweden.
