Female-founded Finnish startup Audicin raises €1.6 million to develop audio treatments for nervous system overstimulation

Audicin, a Finnish NeuroTech startup using brainwave entrainment and music neuroscience for real-time focus, productivity, stress recovery and sleep, today announced €1.6 million ($1.9 million) in funding.

The round includes private investment, follow-on participation from Oura ring co-founder Petteri Lahtela and Virpi Tuomivaara, and support from Business Finland’s selective Deep Tech Accelerator. The raise builds on Audicin’s earlier pre-Seed round backed by Oura’s founding team and brings total funding to approximately €2.5 million ($3 million).

“The nervous system doesn’t switch on only when something goes wrong. It’s working all day, adapting to cognitive load, decisions, and stress signals. Audicin is designed to run in the background of real life, helping regulate that load in the moment, not just after the fact. This financing lets us scale into the environments where regulation is hardest to maintain, including phone-restricted settings, and bring this capability into the platforms people already rely on,” said Laura Avonius, CEO of Audicin.

Founded in Finland in 2022 by Laura Avonius and Dr Victoria Williamson, Audicin develops neurotechnology designed to support real-time stress recovery and sleep through brainwave-entrainment audio protocols grounded in auditory neuroscience and music psychology.

According to the company, its composed music tracks are combined with true, invisible binaural beats embedded within a 360-degree spatial sound, designed by its in-house neuroscientists, medical doctors, audio engineers and music composers to guide the brain into states of calm, recovery, or focus.

Audicin can be accessed using any headphones or earbuds. It can pair with wearables, including Oura, Apple Watch, Garmin, and Whoop. In order to be used in secure, phone-free environments, including deployments in healthcare and defence settings, the company is piloting a standalone, offline, Bluetooth-free Sleep Headband with a pre-installed eight-hour recovery programme built around a 1Hz delta protocol associated with deep sleep.

The company also features Audicin for Apps, which offers an SDK that enables third-party platforms to embed its recovery protocols directly into their products.

With the fresh funding, the company plans to commercialise Audicin’s app and Sleep Headband, and the rollout of Audicin for Apps.

“Audicin doesn’t depend on user effort or ideal conditions. It functions more like infrastructure: something that can operate during work, rest, and in restricted environments. That’s fundamentally different from tools that require carving out time for wellness, and it’s why we see strong potential both in enterprise deployments and through Audicin for Apps as platforms begin integrating real-time nervous system support directly into their products,” said Petteri Lahtela, co-founder of the Oura ring.

The company reports strong commercial progress, with a €6.9 million ($8 million) sales pipeline spanning defence, athletic performance, and wellness clinic sectors. Since launching Audicin 2.0 in late 2025, the company has grown without paid acquisition, with a 40% increase in users over 12 weeks and more than doubling iOS revenue in the past 90 days.

It states that users are returning regularly, averaging 5.5 sessions weekly, with a 69% renewal rate and high retention after the first week. Growth has mainly resulted from earned discovery and increasing demand for Audicin’s offline device.

Audicin’s commercial and go-to-market operations are based in Austin, Texas. Its research and product development are led by Dr Williamson, a music psychologist and neuroscientist whose work focuses on how sound influences the brain and nervous system.

The company is supported by a Medical Advisory Board spanning applied physiology, clinical practice, and wearable analytics, including Dr Hannu Kinnunen, former Chief Scientific Officer at Oura; Joel Naukkarinen, MD, an eight-time world champion; and Dr Jenni Hyysalo.
