Doug Adams, the CEO of NTT Global Data Centers, has told Bloomberg that the company was working on doubling its capacity to 4GW in as little as two years.
The company is currently working on 34 data center projects, and Adams added that the business would be able to offer “well over 5GW” of capacity in five years.
Although specific details about the progress of each of these projects were not provided, Adams told Bloomberg that the firm had secured contracts for more than 70 percent of the 34 projects.
Adams also said that the company could finance its expansion using its own funds, in partnership with investors, or through its real estate investment trust NTT DC REIT.
According to its website, NTT Global Data Centers currently offers more than 2GW of capacity across its data centers in 20 locations, including the US, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and India.
It secured 115MW worth of data center leases across campuses in Virginia, Illinois, and California earlier this month.
NTT Global Data Centers is part of NTT Data, which was taken private by its parent company and Japanese conglomerate NTT in a $16.4bn deal last May.
