We are pleased to announce that David Bäckström, Founder and CEO of SeQura, will join the stage at the EU-Startups Summit 2026 on May 7-8 in sunny Malta for a special fireside chat.
David is a serial entrepreneur with a strong background in technology, eCommerce, and digital payment models. Originally from Sweden and now based in Barcelona he has founded and developed several ventures across different sectors. Early in his career, he launched the European Telemedicine Clinic in Barcelona, a large diagnostic imaging centre in Europe with more than 650 doctors. He also founded AhorraDinero, a platform that expanded into Sweden, Spain, and the United States.
In 2014, David founded SeQura in Barcelona with the aim of transforming the online shopping experience through flexible payment solutions. The company introduced options such as buy now, pay later and instalment payments, alongside new approaches to credit risk and fraud management. Today, SeQura provides a wide range of payment alternatives, from immediate to deferred payments, available across online, in-store, and telephonic sales channels.
The platform supports merchants in improving customer retention and conversion, and currently operates in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Mexico while expanding into the US and UK markets. SeQura collaborates with more than 5,000 stores and serves millions of customers.
At the Summit, David will take part in the fireside chat “Profitable by Design: Why We Never Took VC Money and Built a €200 million and over €28 million EBT FinTech Anyway,” where he will share his perspective on the future of banking and FinTech, as well as lessons learned from building and scaling businesses at different stages of development.
Do not miss the opportunity and secure your ticket today! Join us at the EU-Startups Summit 2026 for two days of learning, networking, and inspiration.
