Former MI5 officer lands €2.3 million for AI agent security startup Overmind

London-based Overmind, a startup building the supervision layer for AI agents, today announced a €2.3 million (£2 million) Seed round to grow their technical teams, accelerate product development and scale go-to-market operations within legal, healthcare and FinTech – where agentic AI holds potential but demands rigorous regulatory compliance and data privacy.

The investment was led by specialist cybersecurity investors Osney Capital, with participation from 14Peaks, Portfolio Ventures, Antler and Endurance Ventures.

Tyler Edwards, co-founder and CEO of Overmind says: “The AI security industry is trying to secure the wrong thing. Models will always be vulnerable to adversarial inputs – that’s a fundamental property of how they work. But what happens when an agent is live in production, interacting with real systems, and its behaviour starts to drift? Right now, most teams have no idea. Overmind provides the deployment-layer infrastructure needed to monitor agent interactions and intervene before damage occurs.“

In the 2025–2026 European funding landscape for agentic AI and AI security/governance technologies, a number of startups have raised capital that helps contextualise Overmind’s  Seed round.

Archestra, a London-based company focused on safely connecting AI agents to internal data, secured €2.8 million in pre-Seed funding to develop safety guardrails for autonomous systems. In Italy, Equixly raised €10 million to scale its AI-driven API security testing platform. French startup Qevlar AI raised €9.1 million to build agentic AI for security operations centres.

Other adjacent companies – such as Ranketta, with €1 million for AI analytics on brand visibility in LLM outputs, and Omnia, with €3.5 million for agent-driven marketing platforms – further illustrate the flow of capital into technologies supporting AI adoption more broadly.

Taken together, these rounds represent over €26 million in funding for startups addressing either autonomous AI agents or the security and governance challenges they bring.

This momentum also aligns with broader sector attention, with EU-Startups highlighting the space in its 2025 feature Guardians of the grid: 10 European cybersecurity startups to keep an eye on in 2025, highlighting sustained investor and ecosystem focus on next-generation security technologies.

Adam Cragg, Partner at Osney Capital: “In the new frontier of autonomous AI, agent security, performance, and execution are the ultimate competitive advantages. Overmind provides businesses with truly differentiated technology that monitors and secures agentic AI while iteratively improving model performance, enabling teams to scale with confidence. We’re excited to back such a strong founding team addressing a critical market.”

Founded in 2025, Overmind is a devtool that enables AI to learn from production data. Using pattern of life analysis, it turns real-world agent behaviour into continuous improvement, reportedly allowing teams to ship secure and highly specialised agents.

Overmind’s founding team combines expertise from the UK intelligence community and high-growth technology companies.

CEO Tyler Edwards spent eight years building AI systems for British intelligence agencies including MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. Akhat Rakishev, CTO, previously led machine learning infrastructure at Monzo and Lyst, while CRO Sam Brunt has scaled go-to-market at three unicorns: Funding Circle, Pipe and Vertice.

Adam French, Partner at Antler, shares: “Overmind is addressing one of the most critical bottlenecks in the advancement of AI: the security and supervision of autonomous agents. The founding team is uniquely positioned to solve this and deliver the ‘intelligence-grade’ security AI tools need. We are proud to back a team that isn’t just building a tool, but is defining the security standard for how superintelligence will be safely deployed in production.”

As advances in agentic AI accelerate, the threat landscape is undergoing a fundamental shift that existing security tools are ill-equipped to handle.

The company explains that these models are inherently vulnerable to adversarial inputs and data corruption, yet the real risks lie in how these agents behave when executing tasks in live environments.

This security gap is becoming a barrier to innovation; Gartner estimates that 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by 2027, driven in large part by inadequate risk controls. Without novel technology, unsafe deployment will paralyse the adoption and progress of agentic AI.

Overmind is helping businesses fulfil the promise of agentic AI, with intelligence-grade technology that observes, secures and improves agent performance. The platform provides complete visibility into agent behaviour, detecting and preventing deviations in real-time before humans could react.

Furthermore, through reinforcement learning, Overmind reportedly improves agent performance and accuracy over time, so they don’t just stay safe, they get better.
