Danish real estate firm Thylander has secured new outside investment for its data center venture from an IT firm and several family offices.
The company this week said that Thylander Data Centers’ (TYDC) investor base now includes Systematic Holding Aps by Michael Holm, Sagitta Ventures Aps, Weco A/S, and E. Bank Lauridsen Holding A/S. Terms of the investment weren’t shared.
Thylander first detailed plans for a 100MW “fully Danish developed, operated, and owned hyperscale data center” back in May 2025.
The 100MW facility in Esbjerg is set to launch in 2026 with an initial 10-20MW and expansion potential to 200MW.
Thylander previously said it is working with energy investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on the project. The company said several of the new investors have long-standing relationships with Thylander from previous funds.
“We are well underway in developing our first data center in Esbjerg, but this is just the beginning of the journey towards building a leading data center platform in the Nordics,” said Bjarke Mikkelsen, CEO of Thylander. “The four new partners in TYDC all bring unique competencies that make our platform stronger and more scalable. Over the past year, we have worked hard to build deep operational competencies and a long-term development pipeline for a leading platform in Danish hands.”
Holm, founder of Danish IT firm Systematic, added: “We have been working closely with the Thylander team for the past six months and see exactly the energy and willpower needed to put Denmark on the map as a serious player in data centers. Through Systematic, we are experiencing first-hand the demand for this type of digital infrastructure – and it will only accelerate in the coming years. It is a pleasure to be part of the journey, and we look forward to helping where we can to build the platform.”
Esbjerg is a seaport city and the seat of Esbjerg Municipality on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark.
The facility will reportedly reuse the seawater cooling infrastructure from the Esbjerg power plant and make its heat available to the local district heating network.
Founded in 1986, Thylander is a Danish real estate developer and investor. The company’s portfolio currently totals 74 properties and 10 property funds.
Bulk operates a data center in Esbjerg, while Meta previously acquired land for a data center in Esbjerg but has yet to announce any project in the municipality.
Sagitta is an investment company founded in 2022 by the Clausen Family. It invests in early-stage companies primarily in the Nordics and Northern Europe.
Weco A/S is a Danish family office connected to the Danish shipping group Weco Shipping. Its investments include juice chain Joe and the Juice, quantum computing firm Quantinuum, and AI cloud firm Fluidstack.
E. Bank Lauridsen Holding A/S is a family-owned business and real estate investment firm. It is an investor in Systematic as well as various hotel and residential developments.
