IQM Quantum Computers will install a five-qubit Spark quantum system at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences (HHN) in Germany.
The system will be delivered in collaboration with IQM’s reseller partner Bechtle and will be deployed at the university’s TechCampus later this year. Bechtle will provide operational support and system maintenance for the first three years.
The Spark quantum computer will be installed in a dedicated laboratory space on Heilbronn’s TechCampus, and will provide students, academic staff, and project partners with direct access to quantum hardware, with the aim of embedding quantum computing at an early stage across the university’s degree programs.
“As a system integrator, Bechtle combines technological expertise with many years of experience in the deployment and secure operation of complex IT infrastructures,” said Michael Guschlbauer, COO of Bechtle. “With the first quantum computer at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, we are creating a platform that brings education, research, and innovation together, while at the same time strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty and laying the groundwork for the convergence of quantum computing with traditional IT.”
Jan Goetz, CEO and co-founder of IQM Quantum Computers, added: “We are in no doubt that the integration of an IQM Spark quantum computer by our valued partner Bechtle will enable Heilbronn University to accelerate its research and deliver new scientific breakthroughs. What’s more, students will be able to learn the essential skills required to become the highly sought-after specialists the quantum industry needs today and tomorrow.”
Founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2018, IQM brings full-stack quantum computers and applications to HPCs, research institutes, universities, and business enterprises.
