Australia’s GreenSquareDC is expanding its data center in Greater Western Sydney.
The company announced on Wednesday that construction was “underway” on its SYD1 data center campus located at 3 Bookhoolow Avenue, Northwest, providing around 110MW of capacity upon completion.
The campus is composed of two portions. The first portion is a “dilapidated” 4MW data center currently in the process of being upgraded to offer 15MW of capacity, according to a property filing with the New South Wales Government.
The second portion is set to provide an additional capacity of 96MW.
GreenSquareDC has been eyeing the expansion since last April, and the company has stated that the facility is set to become operational in the third quarter of this year.
It has also claimed that the facility will create “hundreds of skilled jobs in engineering, construction, project delivery, and specialist trades.”
Launched in October 2022, GreenSpaceDC was acquired by Swiss private equity firm Partners Group last March.
The company had plans to construct a data center called WAi1 in Perth, Western Australia, but GreenSquareDC’s website does not contain any information about the facility or its progress.
The company recently shuffled its leadership, replacing former CEO and founder Walt Coulston with Charles Penny, the company’s former chief development officer.
