Tallinn-based edtech startup Flashka has raised a €1M pre-seed round led by Outlast Fund, with participation from Ulixes Capital Partners (UCP) and Vento Ventures. Flashka is building AI-powered learning tools that turn any content into flashcards, quizzes, and structured study flows designed to improve retention rather than provide shortcuts. The fresh capital will be used to further develop Flashka’s AI-driven learning engine, expand its product capabilities for university students, and scale its presence across European markets, as the company positions itself within a growing movement focused on outcome-driven, student-native education technology.
Founded in 2023 by David Djokovic, Stefan Djokovic & Simone De Marchi, Flashka develops an AI-based learning platform designed for university students. The product allows users to turn existing materials—such as lecture notes, PDFs, or articles—into flashcards, quizzes, and structured study flows. The company positions its technology as a tool for supporting comprehension and retention rather than generating direct answers.
”Students are the reason we build this product. They message us every day with feedback, and they are the ones telling us what actually helps them learn,” said David Djokovic, co-founder and CEO of Flashka.
Outlast Fund, which focuses on early-stage B2B software startups in the Nordic and Baltic regions, led the round. The fund was launched in 2024 and is known for backing pre-seed and seed-stage companies, including first-time founders. UCP and Vento Ventures joined the round, bringing additional support from Italian investors with experience in finance, venture capital, and early-stage company building.
“For too many students, AI is currently used only as a shortcut. Flashka is a part of the countermovement where a new generation of students uses its features daily as a way to deepen their learning, not avoid it,” said Kristaps Prusis, Founding Partner of Outlast Fund.
Flashka plans to use the new funding to further develop its AI learning infrastructure, expand product features tailored to higher education use cases, and scale its operations across additional European markets. The company is also expected to invest in improving personalization and retention-focused learning workflows as competition in AI-powered education tools continues to intensify.
