Investment bank Macquire Group and data center infrastructure startup Polarise have formed a “strategic financing partnership” to support the fit-out of the latter’s data centers.
The partnership is worth up to €117 million ($136.65m). It will initially be used to fit out Polarise’s data center in Munich, Germany, and later for the company’s other projects in Germany and wider Europe.
The funding is being provided by Macquarie’s Specialised and Asset Finance division, and is hoped to enable Polarise to launch its data center in early 2026.
Michel Boutouil, CEO of Polarise, said: “This financing is pivotal in helping us realize our vision to support Germany’s AI-driven industrial transformation and build the backbone of Europe’s AI ambitions.”
“Macquarie’s ability to execute within an extremely short timeframe, combined with its deep understanding of the AI and data center sector, has been instrumental in making this project possible. The Munich AI data center will set a new benchmark for reliability, scalability, and sustainability for our customers.”
Tom McDonell, associate director in Macquarie’s Specialised and Asset Finance division, added: “We are proud to partner with Polarise in supporting this groundbreaking project and have been thoroughly impressed by their deep HPC expertise. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation and advancing transformative technologies in the AI infrastructure sector.”
Polarise describes itself as an end-to-end provider of AI data centers in Germany and Europe. It also offers a cloud platform. According to its website, the company operates locations in Oslo, Norway (a 3,800 sqm 40,900 sq ft facility), and Frankfurt, Germany.
The company uses DDN’s AI data platform.
Plans for the Munich data center were first revealed in November 2025, though the facility was already under construction. Deutsche Telecom is already signed on for the facility and will use the data center for its Industrial AI Cloud. Further data centers are planned for Bavaria, Hesse, and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Details about the size and capacity of Polarise’s other data centers have not been shared. DCD has contacted the company for further information.
