Oulu-based cleantech company Filtrabit has secured a €2 million funding commitment from investment vehicle Ajanta Innovations 2 Ky ahead of its upcoming financing round. The commitment anchors the round and will support Filtrabit’s international expansion following the commercial validation of its modular industrial dust extraction technology in Finland. The company develops systems that capture and recycle fine industrial microparticles from gas streams, reducing emissions while enabling raw material reuse. Proceeds from the round, together with earlier financing, will be directed primarily toward scaling operations and market entry in the Nordics, Central Europe and India, as well as advancing product deployment through its R&D operations in Oulu.
The cleantech company develops modular, industrial-scale dust extraction systems designed to capture microparticles from dust-laden gas streams in demanding industrial environments. By recovering fine particles at the source, Filtrabit’s technology aims to reduce airborne emissions while enabling the reuse of recovered raw materials, supporting both regulatory compliance and circular industrial processes.
According to the company, the committed capital—together with earlier financing—will be used primarily to support international expansion beyond Finland. Target markets include the Nordics and Central Europe, with India also identified as a key growth area as industrial activity accelerates and environmental standards tighten.
“The increasing demand for better dust control is driven not only by environmental regulations but also by operational and economic benefits achieved by implementing the most modern raw material collection and recycling methods available,” said Kim Fagerlund, CEO of Filtrabit.
Fagerlund noted that the company’s technology has moved beyond pilot-stage development.
“Our technology has now been proven in practice in several applications in Finland and is ready to be implemented in operations globally,” he said.
He added that the new commitment plays a strategic role in the company’s next phase of growth.
“We are grateful for the trust of our shareholders and are ready to take the next steps on our expansion and growth path. This commitment plays a key role in our next round and enables us to efficiently execute our strategy road map as planned more than a year ago,” Fagerlund said.
Filtrabit recently opened a new R&D center and test laboratory in Oulu, where its management and engineering teams continue to validate and refine the performance of its filtration systems. The company expects the upcoming financing round to accelerate commercial deployment and support scaling efforts as demand grows for more efficient and sustainable industrial dust control solutions.
