Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC) has secured a tenant for a planned campus in the Netherlands.
The company this week announced it has signed “2025’s largest standalone hyperscale data center lease in Europe,” taking all available capacity at a planned site in Amsterdam.
An unnamed hyperscale customer is leasing the entire 78MW campus, situated in Westpoort, Amsterdam, with Pure DC investing more than €1 billion ($877 million) to develop the 5.6-acre site.
As part of the lease deal, Pure DC has purchased a site, secured planning permissions, and 100MVA of power via a private substation. The land was purchased on a long leasehold from the Port of Amsterdam.
Pure’s AMS01 campus will comprise three 26MW buildings and a private substation with a connection into the 50kV grid. The three multi-story buildings will total 94,660 sqm (1 million sq ft).
The private substation is already constructed and live, with development of the data halls expected to begin in January 2026.
“Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most constrained markets for digital infrastructure, and Pure DC has again demonstrated its ability to unlock new low-latency, high-quality capacity. This deal demonstrates how our specialist teams have the creativity and approach to deliver compelling proposals for even previously distressed assets – delivering solutions for local authorities, potential customers, and our supply chain,” said Dame Dawn Childs, CEO, Pure Data Centres.
Founded around 2013 and owned by investment firm Oaktree Capital Management, Pure has developments in London (Brent Cross, Park Royal), the UAE (Abu Dhabi), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), Spain (Madrid), Indonesia (Jakarta), Ireland (Dublin), and Finland (Seinäjoki). On its website, Pure says it has more than 500MW of capacity live or under development.
Amsterdam, one of the largest data center markets in Europe, has imposed a number of restrictions to limit the number of new facilities.
Great Grey Investments Data center was previously developing a three-building campus in the Westpoort area. Images from that planned development and those on Pure’s website appear to match, suggesting Pure has taken over the project. DCD has reached out for more information.
Google is also present in the Westpoort area of the city.
