European Edge data center company AtlasEdge has sold a portfolio of facilities to Spanish operator Templus.
The companies announced the deal this week, with nine data centers trading hands. Terms were not shared, but the deal is set to close in the first half of 2026.
Templus will be taking over data centers in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Milan, Italy; Zurich, Switzerland; Paris, France; Amsterdam, Netherlands; London and Leeds, UK; and Copenhagen, Denmark.
“This is an exciting step forward for AtlasEdge,” said Tesh Durvasula, CEO of AtlasEdge. “It strengthens our ability to invest in the regions where we see exceptional long-term growth, while ensuring these sites continue under a focused operator well-placed to support their future.”
Founded as an Edge operator, AtlasEdge said the sale reflects its “strategic focus on larger sites with significant long-term growth potential.”
The company noted it is scaling its footprint at current sites in Germany, Austria, and Portugal, developing new sites in Vienna, Austria, and Lisbon, Portugal.
The move marks Templus’ first move outside of Spain. The deal will see the company manage a portfolio of more than 60MW and 750 customers.
Nacho Velilla, CEO of Templus, said: “With this acquisition, Templus begins its European internationalization, with the firm objective of growing in all markets that are now integrated into Templus’ network of regional data centers in Europe.”
Formed as a joint venture between telecoms company Liberty Global and digital infrastructure fund DigitalBridge in 2021, AtlasEdge operates regional data centers across Europe. Digital Realty has also invested in the company.
The deal brought together DigitalBridge’s Edge assets and Liberty Global’s real estate portfolio, with several Liberty Global operating companies acting as anchor tenants: Virgin Media in the UK, Sunrise-UPC in Switzerland, and UPC in Poland. In November 2021, Atlas acquired twelve data centers across Europe from Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) and acquired several local operators, bought a site in Leeds in 2021, acquired Germany’s DC1 in 2022, and bought a facility in Austria last year.
Henry Harris, chief strategy officer at AtlasEdge, added: “This transaction marks an important milestone as we continue to refine our portfolio around customer demand – focusing on higher-density, scalable and strategically located facilities in the markets where we see the greatest potential. These nine sites played a key part in our early formation, and we are delighted to have found in the Templus team a new owner who shares our passion for customers and operational excellence.”
Templus was launched last year after ICG and Teras Capital acquired the data center business of Spanish telco Avatel. The company then bought a data center from insurance firm Mapfe in Madrid, and recently acquired Spanish colo bitNAP from Cellnex, taking over a facility in Barcelona. The company currently operates facilities across Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville, Mallorca, and Ceuta, totaling 15.8MW across more than 4,000 sqm (43,055 sq ft).
Felix de la Fuente, chief commercial officer of Templus, said: “This acquisition reinforces Templus’ commitment to providing a resilient, proximity-based and state-of-the-art digital infrastructure. These strategically located facilities benefit from excellent connectivity through a variety of carrier options, while providing European businesses with a sovereign and native infrastructure for regulatory compliance. This is critical for AI-ready operations, regulatory alignment, and hybridization with centralized cloud ecosystems.”
ING is acting as financial adviser and Linklaters as legal adviser to AtlasEdge. AZ Capital is acting as financial adviser and Uría Menéndez as legal adviser to Templus.
