Stockholm-based Inception Fund has officially launched with a €21 million micro fund focused on supporting day-zero startups led by technical founders across the New Nordics — including the Nordic and Baltic regions. Founded by Oliver Molander, Caroline Cronstedt, and Erik Lindblad, with Silo AI’s co-founder and CEO Peter Sarlin joining as a founding LP and partner, the fund will invest in early-stage teams working in B2B software and artificial intelligence.
Inception Fund aims to bridge the gap between the Nordic and Baltic startup ecosystems, operating with a flexible structure similar to an angel syndicate and working closely with top-tier global VC funds and leading angel investors.
What we’re seeing is a new generation of entrepreneurs — especially technically strong ones — who don’t have even the slightest fear of heights. It’s a signal that the ecosystem is maturing properly,” said founder Oliver Molander to Sifted.
The fund’s backers include leading Nordic AI and tech entrepreneurs, institutional investors, and family offices. Among them are Sebastian Knutsson (King), Taavet Hinrikus and Sten Tamkivi, as well as founders from AI startups such as Lovable, Legora, Sana, Tandem Health, and Aris Machina.
So far, Inception Fund has already invested in more than ten AI startups, including Tzafon, Vesence, Marly AI, Vantel, Scape, and Ethira, and plans to make around fifty additional investments.
With a team based in Finland and Sweden, Inception Fund sees Stockholm as the epicentre of Europe’s next generation of AI innovation. The fund’s mission is to identify and empower the boldest technical founders building globally from the New Nordics.
“The momentum in the New Nordics is real,” said Peter Sarlin, co-founder and CEO of AMD Silo AI and professor at Aalto University. “The next wave of global AI companies will rise from here.”
