Amazon has signed a PPA with OX2 for 28MW of wind power in Poland.
The long-term power purchase agreement will see the cloud and e-commerce giant buying energy from a 40MW onshore wind farm owned by Swedish renewables developer OX2 AB, reports Renewables Now.
Annopol wind park is currently under development, and is set to be located in Lublin Voivodeship in the southeast of the country. The site is currently expected to go online sometime in 2027.
This is not the company’s first PPA with OX2. Earlier this year, Amazon signed an agreement to purchase the entire capacity of two onshore wind farms in Finland from the firm, totaling 472MW of power.
Amazon also signed a PPA with R.Power SA last week for 164MW of solar power in the Opole and West Pomeranian Voivodeships in Poland. The cloud and commerce giant claims to have some 333MW in PPAs in the country thus far, including a 53MW agreement for wind power with Vortex Energy.
Amazon was again named the top corporate buyer of renewable energy in the European market towards the start of this year, and aims to have net-zero emissions across its operations by 2040.
OX2 is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and focuses on the development, construction, and management of renewable energy solutions. It is owned by private equity firm EQT and has a presence in 12 markets across Europe and Australia.
In 2023, OX2 signed a long-term PPA with Google and AirTrunk for 25MW of solar power from a project in the Riverina district of New South Wales, Australia.
