Troubled Italian Banca Progetto, a portfolio company of Oaktree Capital Management that Banca d’Italia suspended from operativity since 18 March, Tuesday, is carrying on talks for its 400 million euros worth relaunch with Fondo Interbancario di Tutela dei Depositi (Fitd), Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Banco BPM, BPER Banca, Intesa Sanpaolo, and UniCredit in accordance with the binding term sheet that signed in September 2025 (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Fitd may subscribe a capital increase that the shareholders should approve in November. Oaktree doesn’t want to write off its stake in the bank for which Lodovico Mazzolin and Livia Casale are acting as extraordinary commissioners. Kpmg is assisting Fitd while Lazard is advising Banca Progetto that is appraising its credits portfolio ahead of a clear definition of the capital requirements. The bank is also working on derisking through a securitization of credits and the sale of NPEs that may be of interest to Amco.
Arca Defence Italy, a subsidiary of Turkish Arca Defence, acquired troubled Italian Esplodenti Sabino and committed to invest 100 million euros in the company’s relaunch (see here a previous post by BeBeez). LawaL Legal & Tax Advisory assisted Arca Defence. Sergio della Rocca advised Esplodenti Sabino which belongs to the SalvatoreFamily and for which Diego Bracciale is handling the receivership procedure.
