A renewable energy firm is planning a data center in Aljustrel, Portugal.
The municipality this week announced FF Ventures is to develop a new facility at the Mancoca Business and Logistics Park, in the parish of Rio de Moinhos.
The company reportedly aims to invest €200 million ($234.4m) into the project. Further details, including project timelines, weren’t shared.
FF Venture’s website lists 310MW of data center projects under development – including 264MW in Portugal – but didn’t provide details.
Aljustrel is a town and municipality in the Portuguese district of Beja, some 71km (44.1 miles) east of Sines.
“Through the installation and creation of this Data Center, FF Ventures is committed to implementing measures based on the concepts of energy efficiency and transition,” the Aljustrel announcement said.
Founded in 2018, FF Ventures is a renewable energy developer focused on Europe. The company’s portfolio includes 1.7GW of solar projects in operation or development, more than 280MW of battery storage, and 150MW of wind projects in development.
Investors in FF Ventures include Octopus Energy and TimeToAct Capital.
Portugal’s data center markets are largely clustered around Lisbon and Porto. Operators include Equinix, Edged, AtlasEdge, and Start, as well as local telcos Ar, Aire, and Claranet.
Plans for a new data center were recently announced in Pego, Abrantes, by EDC One.
