Italian GenAI legal platform Lexroom closes €16 million funding round

Lexroom, the startup out of Milan using generative AI to transform the legal sector, has closed a €16.2 million Series A round in order to accelerate international expansion and further develop its legal AI platform.

In the past six months, the startup has reportedly tripled its client base and doubled its team, with expansion already underway in Germany and an imminent launch in Spain.

The round was led by Silicon Valley VC Base10 Partners. The round also saw participation from Spanish VC Acurio Ventures, View Different founded by Diego Piacentini – who will also take on an advisory role at the company – and Riccardo Zacconi, Founder of King (Candy Crush), along with other strategic angel investors. The deal also confirmed the support of existing investors such as Entourage, Verve Ventures, and Joe Zadeh.

“The legal industry is undergoing a revolution,” said Paolo Fois, CEO and Co-founder. “With this round we will accelerate international growth and build the future of the legal profession with AI at its core.”

Lexroom’s Series A places it toward the more aggressive end of LegalTech/legal-AI funding in Europe in 2025 – especially for a Series A (versus most of their peers, which are Seed or early rounds). The presence of a large lead VC (Base10) and cross-border investor participation (Spanish VC, angel, etc.) underlines international ambition.

The size and timing show that the legal-AI space is maturing: where many players in 2025 are still in Seed or pre-Seed stages (e.g. €1.6 million for WilsonAI, €2.4 million for Augmetec, €644k for CaseCraft) or raising growth capital (Legora), Lexroom is bridging from early to scaling phase. Its expansion into Germany and Spain is also consistent with pan-European scaling strategies seen in this category.

Notably, the vLex exit (Barcelona-born) highlights that the Spanish/Iberian legaltech ecosystem is active, and Lexroom’s push into Spain may put it in proximity to that momentum.

“Lexroom is transforming one of the largest and most tradition-bound industries with a product that lawyers actually love using. Paolo, Martina, and Andrea bring an impressive mix of deep legal expertise and product vision, and in just a short time have shown how AI can meaningfully change the way legal work gets done,” said Rexhi Dollaku, General Partner at Base10 Partners. “We’re proud to be partnering with them as they set a new standard for AI in the legal sector.”

Founded in 2023 by Paolo Fois, Martina Domenicali, and Andrea Lonza, Lexroom supports lawyers and corporate legal teams in legal research, drafting, and advisory, with an approach based on high-quality legal sources tailored to different jurisdictions.

The artificial intelligence platform was created to simplify the work of lawyers and legal professionals, in law firms and in-house. Leveraging the potential of Generative AI, Lexroom transforms legal workflows, allegedly making every step faster, safer, and smarter — from legal research to document drafting.

With a team of 40 professionals and clients such as Osborne Clarke, Fastweb, Satispay, and Mediolanum, Lexroom looks to drive the technological transition in the legal sector.

Just six months after a €2 million Seed round led by Entourage, the Italian startup has already doubled its workforce and tripled its customer base.

Following the investment, RexhiDollaku, General Partner at Base10 Partners and a long-time investor, will join Lexroom’s board, marking a new chapter of international growth for the startup.

EU-Startups also included Lexroom among the companies listed in its Innovators to watch: 10 early-stage startups shaping Milan’s future article.
