BeeSpeaker, a Poland- and Sweden-based language learning startup, has raised €2 million in seed funding. The round was led by Movens Capital, with SpeedUp Venture Capital and several angel investors participating. Founded in 2022, the company focuses on helping users practice spoken language through AI-driven video tutors and conversational exercises. BeeSpeaker reports 60,000 paying users across more than 100 countries and projects €5 million in revenue for 2025. The new funding will be used to expand into 16 markets, add new languages, and further develop its AI features and content.
Despite 230 million app downloads and $60 billion spent on language learning yearly, most of the world’s 1.5 billion learners never actually learn to speak. They get stuck recognising words but can’t hold a conversation. The problem? Traditional apps focus on grammar drills and gamified tapping while most learners say speaking is what they actually struggle with most.
BeeSpeaker replicates the experience of having a personal tutor through short videos of native speakers followed by spoken practice sessions. Unlike traditional apps that rely on tapping and multiple choice, all exercises require users to speak aloud. The AI assesses pronunciation, responds conversationally, and adjusts difficulty based on individual progress. The approach delivers tutoring-quality instruction at a fraction of the cost of live lessons.
Karol Wegner, co-founder and CEO of BeeSpeaker, said: “Most learners don’t want to become grammar experts. They want to feel confident speaking. There’s a growing consensus among language experts that the most effective approach mirrors how children learn: listening, repeating, and trying without fear. That clicked for me watching my kids pick up Spanish naturally. We built BeeSpeaker around that principle from day one. You’re talking aloud and having real conversations, not tapping through flashcards.”
BeeSpeaker’s content is created in-house and designed to be both immersive and interactive. Users engage with native speakers via short-form videos and conversational prompts that mimic real-life scenarios, such as ordering food or attending a job interview. Advanced learners can engage in free-form AI conversations, while beginners benefit from structured, video-led lessons. BeeSpeaker has been an early adopter of AI, and the company is now also experimenting with AI-generated video tutors to scale content production.
Bartosz Pieślak, co-founder and COO, added: “That focus on what users actually need has paid off. We’ve cracked the top 30 global language learning apps with just 13 people. That efficiency is our superpower. While others chase scale at any cost, we’ve grown 4x by obsessing over what our users actually want. Now we’re ready to take that same ruthless focus and go after the top 5.”
The €2M seed round will enable BeeSpeaker to accelerate growth in eight new markets while consolidating its presence in eight others where revenue targets have already been met. In parallel, the company will launch new languages, starting with German and French, following the release of its Spanish course earlier this year. Founded in 2022 by Karol Wegner and Bartosz Pieślak, who together built a 120-person mobile development agency, the company operates with a team of 13 and is based in Warsaw, Poland and Stockholm, Sweden.
Artur Banach, Managing Partner at Movens Capital, said: “Karol and Bartosz bring rare depth as founders. Having built and scaled a successful software consultancy with a focus on mobile apps gives them an unfair advantage and the technical intuition and executional discipline to move fast and make smart bets. They’ve timed their adoption of AI technology perfectly, but what sets them apart is how closely they listen to users and iterate accordingly. This shows in the standout metrics across growth, retention, and engagement they are delivering.”
Over the next 12 months, BeeSpeaker aims to enter the top 10 global language learning apps by revenue. In 2026, the company plans to raise a Series A round to support further expansion and build toward its long-term goal: becoming the most effective and accessible tool for learning to speak a foreign language with confidence.
