Nextalia Ventures joined the 120 million US Dollars financing round of Monkimun Inc., the company developing the interactive learning platform Lingokids (Monkimun statement and Nextalia press release), and received the support of Deloitte for the financial, fiscal and legal due diligence. Bullhound Capital and Customer Value Fund – General Catalyst led the Monkimun round.
The Italian private capital firm that Francesco Canzonieri created previously joined the 100 million series B round of London’s tech company Shop Circle (see here a previous post by BeBeez),
Lingokids is for children aged two to eight and is the most downloaded app on iOS and Android, reaching more than 185 million households globally. The model combines proprietary content and collaborations with international partners, including Pocoyo, Blippi, NASA, Stanford Scientists and the World Literacy Foundation. The new capital increase will enable Lingokids to strengthen its transition from a single IP to a multi-IP platform, with the aim of expanding its offering and developing a safe digital environment for families and children. The deal reflects Nextalia’s strategy of investing in innovative companies at the intersection of education, technology and entertainment.
Cristóbal Viedma, Monkimun’s founder and ceo, said “Lingokids is redefining the way children learn by giving families the freedom to access high-level education through a dynamic, multi-IP platform that evolves with each child. With the support of Nextalia and our investors in this round we can expand our target audience and reach more children and families around the world.”
Canzonieri added: “Lingokids represents the scalable software platform model we want to invest in, as it leverages artificial intelligence and high-quality content to redefine children’s education on a global scale. With our investment, we are committed to supporting its continued growth and international expansion.”
