The cofounder of gut health startup Zoe has joined the board of UK healthtech Lottie, following a wave of former colleagues which have been poached by the care home marketplace.
George Hadjigeorgiou, who launched personalised nutrition startup Zoe with Tim Spector and Jonathan Wolf in 2017, took up a role as non-executive board member at Lottie in July, according to Companies House filings.
He follows six former Zoe workers who’ve upped sticks from the company to Lottie, according to a source familiar with the moves. Three joined in 2025, including chief technology officer Julien Lavigne Cadet and VP product Laura Mahy, who took up roles at Lottie as chief technology and product officer and VP product, respectively.
Hadjigeorgiou confirmed the appointment to Sifted, adding that he remains “very involved” in Zoe.
“I am also investing, advising and building companies that address other health goals,” he told Sifted. “My involvement in Lottie is part of that and to help people have even better later life care.”
Hadjigeorgiou has also launched a new startup called Ivi Sleep in July, according to Companies House. He confirmed involvement in the company to Sifted, but didn’t share details about its offering.
Founded in 2021, Lottie is building an online marketplace for people to find care homes and home care providers. It last raised a $21m Series A led by Accel in October 2023, with participation from General Catalyst.
Zoe became a household name in the UK with its gut health app which offered personalised food scores based on a series of at-home tests. The startup was one of Europe’s best funded direct-to-consumer healthtechs, raising $99.5m from the likes of Balderton Capital and Daphni.
But the company was forced to make two rounds of layoffs in 2024 after struggling with customer churn.
Lottie has been approached for comment.
