Baltic telco Telia Lietuva and Polish telco Algo Poland have completed the construction of their first ‘ZeroSite’ telco pole in Palanga, Lithuania.
The site, which was designed to minimize environmental impact, is a multifunctional telecom pole standing 15 meters (49.2 feet) tall – an eight-meter pole and a seven-meter head (26ft and 23ft, respectively).
According to the companies, the installation took two days and included no large concrete structures or heavy fencing. Instead, it took a compact form that blends into its surroundings and can be dismantled and relocated if needed.
“We understand how important reliable connectivity is for the residents and visitors of Palanga. At the same time, we want to preserve what makes this place special – its unique natural beauty. ‘Meldas’ shows that modern infrastructure can coexist with nature,” said Sigita Šeputienė, head of real estate development at Telia Lietuva.
The base station can support up to three operators, and is prepared to host three sector antennas and nine 5G panel antennas. Optional features on the station include environmental sensors, cameras, Wi-Fi, and EV charging stations.
“ZeroSite is a blend of aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and rapid deployment. We are proud to deliver a solution for Telia Lietuva that perfectly fits such a prestigious location,” said Adam Gołąbek, COO Algo Poland.
The site is expected to be the first of several that Telia has planned, with similar solutions slated for construction in Monciškės and Vilnius.
Founded in 1991, Telia Lietuva is the Lithuanian subsidiary of Swedish telco firm Telia. It is one of the largest telco providers in Lithuania and the wider Baltic region, achieving 99 percent Low Band 5G coverage across Lithuania in 2023. It is the only telco firm in Lithuania offering a full range of fixed and mobile telephony, broadband Internet, and television services.
Headquartered in Radom, Poland, Algo operates within the wireless telecommunications carriers sector. The firm offers a range of tower products, including ZeroSite, Smart Towers, and Tree Towers, with a focus on environmental sustainability.
