Danish cybersecurity company Moxso has secured $5.5 million in seed funding to support product development and European expansion. The round was led by Seed Capital, with participation from Ugly Duckling Ventures and D2 Fund. Founded in 2021, Moxso develops an AI-driven platform that analyzes employee behavior to identify risks and deliver targeted security interventions, aiming to address phishing, social engineering, and insider threats. The company plans to use the funding to grow its engineering and commercial teams, enhance its technology, and enter new markets. As part of the investment, Geeta Schmidt, General Partner at Seed Capital and former CEO of Humio, will join the company’s board.
Founded in 2021 by Rune Boye Knudsen and Mikkel Lindblom, Moxso builds tools that monitor and analyze employee behavior in real time to identify potential security risks. Unlike traditional awareness programs, which often rely on generic training modules, the company’s platform creates evolving risk profiles and delivers targeted interventions based on individual behavior patterns. The goal is to address threats such as phishing, social engineering, and insider risks by adapting training to the specific vulnerabilities within an organization.
“Companies don’t need more security training. They need systems that adapt as quickly as attackers do,” said Rune Boye Knudsen, CEO of Moxso. “This investment gives us the resources to accelerate development and expand across Europe. The demand is clear: organizations want measurable, automated resilience, not another compliance checkbox.”
The funding comes after a period of growth for Moxso, during which the company tripled its revenue to double-digit millions, quadrupled its headcount, and was selected to participate in Google’s Growth Academy for Cybersecurity. The company has also received recognition in its home market, winning “SME Initiative of the Year” at the 2025 Danish Cybersecurity Awards.
As part of the seed round, Geeta Schmidt, General Partner at Seed Capital and former CEO of Humio, will join Moxso’s board. Humio, a Danish log management company, was acquired by CrowdStrike in 2021, marking one of the largest cybersecurity exits in Denmark. Schmidt’s appointment reflects Seed Capital’s newly stated interest in backing cybersecurity startups, with Moxso being its first investment under this focus.
“Moxso is tackling one of the hardest problems in cybersecurity, and we’re backing them as our first investment under Seed Capital’s new cybersecurity focus because they have both the ambition and the technology to become a global category leader,” said General Partner Geeta Schmidt at Seed Capital.
Moxso is currently active in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, with plans to enter additional European markets over the coming months.
