everwave, an Aachen-based impact company for clean water, has successfully completed growth financing to expand into South East Asia, deliver scalable environmental solutions and solidify its role as a leading European impact company.
The new funding round saw participation from Viessmann Generations Group as a strategic partner, joined by VC company KSK-Wagniskapital and existing shareholders SistaAct. The European Social Innovation and Impact Fund also participated, with capacura and NRW.BANK remaining part of the company.
“This is the biggest round we ever did and will enable us to scale our operations globally. This is exactly what we need, because waste in rivers is not waiting for us,” shared Clemens Feigl, CEO & Co-founder of everwave, with EU-Startups.
Founded in 2018, everwave is cleaning up waters using waste collection boats and preventing waste from reaching the oceans. They employ AI to aid in cleanup missions by detecting and analysing trash. The collected materials are then environmentally processed.
The company uses waste collection boats, barriers and manual clean-ups, supported by AI analyses. Since its foundation, more than two million kilograms of waste have already been collected from rivers in Thailand, Cambodia and Albania.
“We are proud to welcome the Viessmann Generations Group and KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH as renowned investors in everwave,” says Feigl. “This is an important signal to the market right now, as sustainability is at risk of falling out of focus in many places. There is a need for more impact companies that develop concrete solutions for global challenges. This funding will enable us to significantly expand our international activities.”
In addition, everwave is building local recycling infrastructure and raising awareness. The impact company implements all of these projects independently with local teams, thus creating additional jobs.
At the heart of the business model is a certified plastic credit system: every euro finances the recovery of one kilogram of waste. This gives companies a transparent opportunity to take responsibility for their own plastic footprint.
“Our investment in everwave is another milestone in our efforts to promote pioneering solutions with real ecological added value,” says Max Viessmann, CEO and President of the Viessmann Generations Group. “Their practical and measurable approach to water purification not only reduces plastic waste, but also protects one of our most important resources: clean water. Together, we are transforming responsibility into concrete action and shaping living spaces for future generations.”
Thanks to the completed financing, everwave can continue to expand its international projects. New locations in South East Asia are already in the pipeline.
The strategic partnership with Viessmann also supports the development of sustainable and scalable solutions to tackle global environmental problems. At the same time, everwave is consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading impact companies in the areas of water quality, waste management and the circular economy.
