Two solar parks and a data center will be built near Oulu, Finland.
This infrastructure will be built on Kivimaki farm, located in the municipality of Liminka.
Norway’s Endra, which specializes in developing and operating solar plants in the Nordics, will construct the first park, which will have more than 100,000 solar panels across 87 hectares.
Chairman of the board of directors of local utility Liminka Energiapuisto Oy Veli-Matti Valikangas said that the construction of the facility will begin in autumn, taking about two years and employing around 100 individuals.
Sweco Finland, a Swedish architecture and engineering consulting firm, will construct the second, which will cover a 72-hectare area. Less information is available about the second facility.
Together, both facilities will produce more than 70,000MWh of electricity annually.
The data center, covering 30 hectares, will be constructed by Finnish data center operator YIT Corporation, which recently signed an agreement with algorithmic trading firm XTX Markets to construct a second data center for the company in Kajaani.
Most of Finland’s data centers are located in the country’s capital, Helsinki. Established operators, including the likes of Verne, Equinix, and atNorth, have a presence in Finland, while new operators such as Polarnode, FCDC, Arcem, and Hyperco are planning multiple developments across the country.
