Faba, the Treviso-based startup behind a fast-growing screen-free audio entertainment system for children, has secured €4.5 million in fresh funding aiming to accelerate its expansion in Spain, one of its key growth markets.
The round was led by CDP Venture Capital, with participation from Oltre Impact and Ad4Ventures, part of the Mediaset Group. This latest injection brings Faba’s total funding to €8.2 million since 2022.
“This investment marks a key moment in our internationalisation journey. We want to be present in Spanish households with a proposition that educates, entertains, and stimulates children’s imagination,” said Matteo Fabbrini, CEO and Founder of Faba.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Treviso, Faba offers an innovative alternative to screen-based entertainment for children aged 0 to 10. Its flagship products — FABA Cuentacuentos and FABA+ — are interactive audio devices designed to support imagination, language development, and play through physical sound figurines called “Personajes Sonoros”.
These figurines unlock over 200 audio content experiences available in Spanish, Italian, French, and English.
The startup has already made waves across Europe, reaching over 370,000 families in Italy, Spain, France, and Belgium. In Spain alone, Faba has been adopted by 30,000 families since launching in 2022, and with the new capital, the company plans to consolidate its market presence and continue its upward trajectory.
Faba reported revenues of €10 million in 2024 and is aiming for €15 million in 2025, fuelled by this new round of funding. The team plans to expand its workforce by 20 new hires by 2027, boost its omnichannel retail strategy, and continue investing in product development and innovation.
Unlike many digital-first toys that rely on screens, Faba says their design deliberately strips out visual stimuli, focusing instead on high-quality audio storytelling and tactile engagement. The approach has reportedly earned support from educators and researchers alike.
A study conducted by the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Trieste found that 46% of children using Faba showed marked improvements in language and cognitive development.
With over 1.7 million Personajes Sonoros sold, Faba has also received accolades including the Toys Awards, Loved by Parents, and the iF Design Award, cementing its reputation as a trusted name in early childhood education and entertainment.
Operating across more than 2,000 retail outlets in Europe, Faba’s blend of pedagogy, play, and technology is positioning the company to potentially become a market leader in Spain by the end of 2025.
