Opper AI, a Stockholm-based startup, has closed a €2.5 million pre-seed round to support the launch of its Task Completion API, a platform designed to help developers deploy large language models (LLMs) in production environments. The round, which was oversubscribed, included investments from Luminar Ventures, Emblem Venture Capital, Greens Capital, and several angel investors. Opper AI offers an infrastructure layer that allows developers to define tasks using structured JSON instead of manually crafting prompts. The API manages prompt generation, model selection, evaluation, and fallback routing across over 80 models, aiming to increase reliability and scalability. The new funding will be used to expand the product’s capabilities, support early enterprise adoption, and grow the engineering team.
Opper AI is a software infrastructure company focused on enabling developers to build reliable applications with large language models. Founded in 2023 by the team behind Unomaly, Opper provides an API that replaces manual prompt engineering with structured task definitions. Its system handles prompt generation, model selection, evaluation, and fallback routing, aiming to support scalable, repeatable, and observable AI workflows in production environments.
“The success of chatbots, agents, or data tasks comes down to how reliably they interact with models,” said Göran Sandahl, Co-founder and CEO. “Opper removes the guesswork from prompt engineering and gives developers a tool that just gets the job done.”
The new funding will be directed toward product development, including expanding support for a wider range of models and refining the platform’s evaluation and observability features. Opper AI plans to invest in scaling its engineering team and onboarding additional enterprise users looking to transition from experimental AI use cases to stable, production-level systems.
“We’re seeing again and again that our customers can go confidently from beta to reliable production deployments,” added Johan Gustafsson, Co-founder and CRO.
Opper’s core offering—the Task Completion API—introduces a structured approach to working with LLMs. Rather than relying on brittle prompts, developers define tasks using JSON schemas that specify inputs, expected outputs, and success conditions. The API then manages interaction with over 80 LLMs, incorporating smart fallback logic, built-in evaluation tools, and usage tracking. This setup is intended to reduce errors, improve reliability, and lower operational costs for AI-powered features.
The company reports early traction with users integrating Opper into critical workflows, replacing ad hoc solutions with more standardized, scalable infrastructure. By abstracting away much of the complexity of prompt engineering and model orchestration, Opper is positioning itself as a foundational tool for AI product teams building with language models in real-world settings.
